Ah... -=glances over to the two humps of giant feathers behind him. He himself looks tired, dirty, and there's some stray down feathers stuck in his hair.=-

I got two of them. But I don't want to do anything else that would ruin the skin or anything.

Does anyone know how to finish skinning one of these things? And tanning the hide so that I could transmute some boots from the leather?

I'll give ya a cut of the meat in trade.

[Jean scratches the side of his head while he looks over the interesting sight on the PCD.]

I can imagine they would be, damn things are huge.

Huh.
Well, any time the guy came into th'store he'd always talk about... huh, what was it now..
[Jean sighs as he thinks, getting the rust off the wheels in his head while looking off to the side in silent memories.]

Well, I know y'gotta take the meaty part and a bit of the fatty part but not all of it. Probably use some sorta scraping bar or even a dull knife for it.
If you're leavin' the feathers on then you wont need t'find a way to boil 'em off or try to pluck 'em off.

[He rubs his chin in thought and then turns his head up toward the PCD again.]
From what I remember the most basic thing is: skin 'em, clean the skin off and let the fat dry on the underside. I think that's about all there was to it.

[Jean's curious look turns intrigued by that.]
I always thought you just ... did what you did. I didn't realize you had to seclude yourself for training. I knew there was studying involved which is why I'm not a State Alchemist, that much I got.

Anyway though, don't wanna keep you from your project.

Thanksgiving this year is going to be great.

... boots? Are the skins really that tough, brother?

We can use yours as a pattern and figure it out. I think if we could cure the hide and make them soft and flexible enough, we could do it.

Rabbit fur would provide better insulation on the inside.

Long time ago I found a book about hunting. As in..hunting in history of the between whatitwas century till now. Something like that, mostly lots of academic records about how the process of hunting changed over centuries, but it does note some techniques of skinning.

Not a real guide to the thing, but it gives an idea.
