saintedsinner: (WHY YOU DO THIS)
[personal profile] saintedsinner
-=Ed's been out all day collecting apples. There are more than five huge crates by the house, and two of them are over flowing. And Ed's dragging another tarp over to the third crate, huffing and dragging and finally he drops it. This is going to happen all week, so Ed is going to be more than a little scarce=-

Apples. Everywhere, apples. And not one cinnamon tree. -=He doesn't seem upset about that part.=-

-=Then he looks up to the sky.=- A nutmeg tree would have been nice!

Are all of those apples really necessary?

FFFFFFF- You saw no icon fail.

[In a much more subdued, "oh man what's going to happen to me" kind of way...]

Are winters here really that bad?

...What do you do about people who get here in the middle of winter?

Why thank you!

A-And no one ever thought to create that kind of society? Humans did it when we were neanderthals... we can't set up a system of "some people are hunter-gatherers, some people are farmers, some people make things and sell them" or anything?

I suppose I really ought to start getting on getting together my own food...

"Come and go"? As in, it's frequent that people leave as well? I was told that once you got here, you're just... here. Did someone lie to me??

...S-Six months to about four years and counting?

......This is one interesting place, isn't it?

I've heard people sometimes come back here... how does that usually work?

They don't remember being here? Why not? Has this happened often?

Technically humans were not originally Neanderthals despite crossbreeding.

[Mun may not mind someone coming into a conversation like this, but Donna is Not Taking This Shit.]

Wow, really? Well, thank you. I'm so glad you told me! Now I can use that information to do absolutely nothing!
From: [identity profile] wingsandwill.livejournal.com
You could use it to avoid being incorrect on this subject in the future.
From: [identity profile] didntturnright.livejournal.com
Oh, you're right! Because of all things here, it's most important to be correct about in insult.

[...Donna should really chill on the whole "kinda sorta really abusive sometimes" thing. She really should.]

It's a figure of speech, darling.

The Sun revolved around the Earth for thousands of years before a specific scientist with a telescope discovered differently. You must allow the human race their little nuances of incorrect science. Not all of us can be as well-informed.

When it's recognized to be incorrect usage shouldn't continue, even as a colloquialism.

What would be the point of colloquialisms if half of them weren't incorrect?

Live dangerously, Castiel. Toss around a few incorrect metaphors once in awhile. I assure you, the thrill is worth it.

Cleverness or diversity in speech, presumably. However almost all fail the former qualification.

I found that unlikely.

There's a simple joy in being silly.

[River grins a little.]

And I can be quite clever without the occasional wrong metaphor, so I don't think that's it.
