I've never seen this book before. I wonder if Al knows about it. -=he handles it carefully, reverently. Books are always cherished in his hands.=- I'll have to dry it out. -=Because, come on, there's a dragon on the cover! It's gotta be cool, right?=-

All of it? How deep is this thing?

Not that deep, it didn't even need to be stitched.

[The bandages come off. The wound's finally closed, but Al's had to keep it covered. It's obviously been cleaned, but it still looks angry and red, like it's fighting off infection.

The cut is shallow, but swiped over his chest and shoulder, obviously an attack wound.]

[Yeah, Ed's upset. The worst type of upset, in Al's opinion.]

A guy named Mukuro mentioned it was his birthday, so I wished him a happy one and we got to talking about our worlds, and the things we did. He seemed nice enough, and he mentioned a hole in his wall, so I agreed to fix it for him.

After I was did, he offered me a "contract", to thank me. He said that it would allow him to quickly get to me if I were ever in trouble, so he could help. He said he'd just have to cut me with his trident to do it.

It sounded way too strange, so I turned him down. And he jumped at me and cut me. I got out, and he didn't follow.

Me either. I went to Rei because he used the word "contract" but she said she couldn't sense anything evil about it, so I don't think it's anything demonic. But she said there was something there.

Now you know he's creepy, even on his birthday. -=Again, very gentle on wrapping up the wound. At the end, he lightly punches Al's chest, opposite side of the wound.=-

[Al shrugs off the punch, but he looks withdrawn, terribly so. He looks up at Ed and for a moment he looks as though he's about to cry.

He just wants so much to believe in people, and to love them. To help them. And this just keeps happening.]

[Al leans against him silently and shuts his eyes. He doesn't cry.]

[He can't stop being himself. He can't stop trying to help people. He can't shut himself off, or give up, or stop believing in the good of the world. He just can't.]
